Sulla rivista Water (Water2021,13, 327) è stato pubblicato un nuovo articolo scientifico che tratta dello studio delle acque sotterranee della piana di Gioia Tauro (costa tirrenica, Calabria, Italia meridionale) in termini di idrostatigrafia e stato chimico fisico.

Si informa che è iniziata l’organizzazione del XVIII Convegno Nazionale della Sezione GIT (Geosciences and Information Technologies) e della nostra Sezione di Idrogeologia, che si svolgerà dal 17 al 19 giugno 2024 presso l’ex centrale idroelettrica “A. Pitter” di Malnisio (Montereale Valcellina, Pordenone).
Chi voglia proporre una sessione scientifica o divulgativa può comunicarlo alla segreteria GIT via mail (segreteriagit@gmail.com), fornendo:
• titolo provvisorio della sessione in italiano;
• breve riassunto (max 250 parole) in italiano;
• convener + massimo altri 3 co-conveners
La deadline per l’invio delle informazioni sopra elencate è inderogabilmente posta a domenica 18 febbraio.
Dal 19 al 21 ottobre 2015, parte del Gruppo di Idrogeologia parteciperà ad un corso specialistico che si svolgerà a Montpellier (France) nella seguente tematica “Advanced Course on CO2 Sequestration in Deep Geological Formations”.
E’ online un bando di concorso per l’ammissione ad un posto di PhD degree presso l’Università di Ghent (Belgio) nella tematica “Joint inversion of physical and chemical state variable data within a multimodel subsurface hydrology framework” presso l’istituzione scientifica “Study Centre of Nuclear Energy, Belgium, SCK-NIRAS”.
E’ disponibile online sul sito della rivista scientifica Italian Journal of Engineering Geology and Environment un nuovo articolo a cura del Gruppo di Idrogeologia. L’articolo tratta il fenomeno dell’intrusione marina quale problema idrogeologico più tipico per gli acquiferi costieri e del conseguente rischio di degrado qualitativo delle acque sotterranee. Evidenzia inoltre, l’importanza dell’elaborazione e dell’applicazione di metodi efficienti per la
prevenzione e la mitigazione dei processi di salinizzazione, che possono rendere le acque sotterranee inutilizzabili sia a scopo potabile che irriguo.

The Maltese Islands are located in the central Mediterranean area, on the Malta-Sicily Platform. The archipelago consists of three main islands, Malta, Gozo and Comino, and several other small uninhabited islets. Malta, the largest of the three islands, has an extent of 246 km2. The aim of this paper is to describe the collaboration between CNRIRPI and EWA (Energy and Water Agency of Malta) and the efforts to upgrade the hydrogeological knowledge of the Malta Island, pursuing the sustainable utilisation of groundwater resources. This will support the water management activities for optimizing the use of Malta’s groundwater resources. Firstly, a review of the hydrogeological environment of the aquifer systems has been undertaken, identifying so some important data gaps that should be filled up. The eventual groundwater body management tool to be developed under this collaborative initiative will enable the formulation and testing of updated groundwater exploitation strategies. These plans ensure the protection of the groundwater bodies from regional and localized sea-water intrusion, whilst taking full consideration of the potential effects of climate change, including the variability of recharge, sea level and seawater salinity.

L’ing. Maurizio Polemio ricercatore presso l’IRPI CNR di Bari nonchè responsabile scientifico del Gruppo di Idrogeologia, ha recentemente rilasciato un’intervistai al quotidiano “Corriere del Mezzogiorno” – del 18 agosto 2017 – inerenti il preoccupante stato delle acque sotterranee pugliesi.
