The Hydrogeology Group (HG) was created in order to promote the scientific and technological research in Hydrogeology, encompassing field monitoring, laboratory analyses, and modeling.

The aim is to enhance and extend the acquired skills and the achieved results dealing with the catchment of groundwater; the management of the groundwater resource influenced by climatic changes; the groundwater pollution; the role of the groundwater in those processes influencing the natural hazard, such as the slope instability; the interactions with surface water bodies; the solution of problems arising from the interaction between groundwater and engineering works, including those designed to accommodate or deal with waste.
